Why am I applying to [Inset Graduate School]? I don’t have another option. I know what you are thinking — what is she doing? Yeah, I’m wondering the same thing. That’s why I decided to submit my application.

I graduated from the University of South Florida in December of 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a minor in Creative Writing. If that sentence sounds rehearsed, it’s because I’ve been telling everyone who will listen what it’s like graduating into an unprecedented pandemic.

Spoiler Alert — It’s Not Fun.

I usually don’t start professional statements this way (ok, that’s a lie), but I know from my experience answering phones that where you get traffic matters. I came to you because my applications to become an editor’s assistant aren’t going anywhere, and I need your network to land a job.

But let’s be real, if I were ready for a job in publishing, then I wouldn’t be coming to you. I need a framework that employers can take advantage of to assign me confusing tasks with minimal instruction, so here we are.

I’m Not Disillusioned
