I don't think it's a good idea because it promotes divorce, but I think having the information helps both parties make decisions about their marriage because they know their rights. Like if I stay home with the children and my husband furthers his career, then that impacts financials. If we divorce, he might be more likely to pay alimony depending on the state law. If we were to work out a solution before it became a problem, like he arranges for me to keep a side job or pays for me to go back to school, that might help us find an equitable solution while still together.
